McDowell Mountain Golf is proud to be part of the top 10 best public golf courses in all of Arizona! We are rated #6 on Ranking Arizona. When building this course we not only wanted it to be a fun, beautiful course to play but suitable for every skill level!
Phil Mickelson states “We really wanted to make [a] golf course that was family friendly and fun to play,” He also adds “By strategically adding grass in and cleaning up the desert areas, making the corridors much bigger, we feel like we made it a much more enjoyable experience. We now feel like this is a fun experience for everyone,”
Formally named “Sanctuary Golf Course at West World,” we have gone through some major branding and course revisions. These revisions included widening the playing corridors, reshaping fairways, adding additional teeing areas, strategic waste bunkers, and much more!
Our recently improved Arizona golf course starts with a meandering front nine. Testing par-threes, strategic par-fours, and a fun-filled, risk/reward par-five ninth hole that serves up a dramatic dogleg left, split fairway. Then the uphill par-five is usually rewarded with a birdie opportunity.
The Back Nine
The second half of our course starts off with a renovated straightforward par-four that builds up from there. The finishing stretch includes an “almost drivable” par-four 16th, a gut check par-three over water on the long 17th, and a beast of a finishing hole in the uphill par-four 18th. The 18th also features a new dramatic waste bunker that puts a premium on driving accuracy.
The 18th hole is surrounded by the stunning vistas including: Pinnacle Peak and the McDowell Mountain Preserve to the north and Camelback, Squaw Peak, and Mummy Mountains to the south, surrounded by the Valley of the Sun. You’ll have a 360 view seeing that you will be 600 ft above the valley floor! Throughout the design of the course, our main focus was centered around the players experience. With striking views and great playing course we believe you’ll have an amazing time!
